Overview

The problem
and my role.

The challenge

Employees often need access to emergency funds before payday, while companies need a secure and manageable way to provide salary access without adding operational complexity. The design challenge was to create an experience that feels simple, trustworthy, and transparent, especially when users are dealing with sensitive financial information.

My contribution

Our mission is to help employees access their earned salary more easily, safely, and transparently — while helping companies provide better financial support without adding operational complexity.

Design journey

01 — Discover

Research & Empathy

The original project was delivered through stakeholder discussions, requirement analysis, design exploration, and engineering collaboration.

Deliverables

  • PERSONA DEFINITIONS
  • USER INTERVIEW REPORTS
  • AFFINITY MAPPING
  • COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

02 — Define

Problem Framing

The main challenge was simplifying a financial process that often feels complex or risky to users. I focused on one key question: How can we enable employees to quickly access part of their earned salary while ensuring all financial details remain clear, transparent, and trustworthy? This shaped three design priorities: streamline the transaction flow by cutting unnecessary steps, make salary, repayment, and transaction info easy to grasp, and provide clear feedback for every key action and transaction status.

Deliverables

  • JOURNEY MAPPING
  • PROBLEM STATEMENTS
  • INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
  • USER FLOW MAPS

03 — Design

Prototyping & System

I transformed the identified issues into user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to craft the most efficient experience. The design emphasized reusable patterns for essential financial actions like account verification and OTP, salary details, access requests, transaction confirmations, and handling processing, success, and failure states. I also developed consistent UI patterns and reusable components to ensure the product scales smoothly as new financial features are added.

Deliverables

  • MOTION GUIDELINES
  • FIGMA DESIGN SYSTEM
  • 140+ COMPONENTS
  • HI-FI PROTOTYPES

04 — Deliver

Testing & Handoff

The prototype was reviewed to identify usability issues, unclear information, and unnecessary friction across the main user journey. Based on the feedback, I refined the hierarchy, wording, interaction states, and transaction feedback to make the experience easier to understand. For developer handoff, I prepared detailed designs covering component behavior, different UI states, spacing, interaction rules, and edge cases to ensure the final implementation remained consistent with the intended user experience.

Deliverables

  • INTERACTION DOCS
  • USABILITY TEST REPORTS
  • FIGMA DEV MODE
  • DEV HANDOFF SPECS

What I learned.

Understanding the Product

Working on Ayo Kasbon strengthened my understanding that financial products need more than a clean interface; they need to create a strong sense of clarity and trust at every step.

User needs, business requirements, and technical constraints

This project helped me improve how I balance user needs, business requirements, and technical constraints. Instead of focusing only on individual screens, I learned to think more systematically about reusable patterns and scalable experiences.
